New Site Management


The Supreme Council of Antiquities (SCA) has recently established Site Management projects at the important sites of Edfu Temple, Kom-Ombo and the Unfinished Obelisk at Aswan.


Edfu Temple:

We are now in the process of doing important work at Edfu Temple located south of Luxor. The site management project includes:

. A visitor center with a seven-minute informational film produced the National Geographic.
. A safe zoning to separate the temple from the town and the Cemetery.
. About 70 shops have been built outside the temple.
. An open-air museum with artifacts has been created outside the temple.
. Restoration to the temple.
. The street from the Nile to the temple has been cleaned and painted.

 

 


Kom Ombo:

The site management project includes:

 

 

 

. The temple will be opened for the first time with the new entrance and better access for tourism.
. Restoration and conservation work is being done to the temple site and Museum of Crocodiles.

 


The Unfinished Obelisk in Aswan:

 

 

 

The site of the unfinished obelisk in Aswan has recently unearthed remarkable discoveries such as, Graffiti of Thutmoses III, Graffiti left by the workmen showing how they cut the Obelisk, a graffiti scenes depicting dolphins and the god Bes. With the new discoveries the SCA has implemented a site management project for the site to help preserve the artifacts and still have it accessible to tourist. The site management project includes:

. A Visitor Center that will give the visitors important information about the site.
. A recreation area.

 

 

 


The Mummy of Ramses is back to Luxor

 

 

 

 

Recently I had the privilege to accompany the mummy of Ramses I from the Cairo Museum to the Luxor Museum. I arrived by Airplane with the mummies of Ahmose and Ramses I. The mummy of Ramses I was received with full military Honors, the military march was performed as we took the great king from Karnak to the Luxor Museum where he and Ammose will be shown in the Museum's permanent exhibit called "Army in the golden age".
